Heather Dail is a STEM teacher at Perquimans County Intermediate School. She previously taught kindergarten and first grade. She is the 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Northeast North Carolina Teacher of the Year. Heather loves the opportunity to teach STEM and reach every student in the school from grades 3–5. Under her leadership, PCIS school introduced the Hour of STEM and recently completed the rigorous application process to become recognized by NC DPI as a North Carolina STEM School of Distinction. Heather loves STEM education and the curiosity, creativity, and confidence it sparks in students. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys supporting other teachers, especially in building strong relationships with students. She serves as our School Improvement Team Chair and is currently working toward creating a STEM summer camp for underserved children in the community. After school and on the weekends, you’ll find Heather with her husband, Greg, their two teenage boys, Brody and Noah, and their Goldendoodle, Sammi.
