Adam Warren is the Director of On Ramp Appalachia and Assistant Director for Higher Education Partnerships with GEAR UP Appalachian. Through On Ramp Appalachia, a Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development grant, Adam partners with community colleges across western North Carolina to help high school students who do not yet have a clear career or college plan discover pathways that fit their goals. Through GEAR UP Appalachian, a U.S. Department of Education grant, he supports rural students, educators, and higher education professionals across 16 school districts and 11 higher education partners.
Adam’s commitment to rural students is personal. After growing up in Wilkes County, he has continued to call western North Carolina home. He lives in Sugar Grove with his wife, an educator, and their two sons.
Adam previously served as Director of Advising for Appalachian State University’s Reich College of Education, founding Director of College Advising Corps, an academic advisor, and an educator. He holds a BS in History, Secondary Education and an MA in History from Appalachian State.
