Shannon Campbell is a high school history teacher at Wilson Early College Academy in Wilson County Schools, where she teaches AP U.S. History and American History Honors. With 15 years of experience in secondary education, Shannon also serves as her department chair, a member of her school’s leadership team, and has served as a mentor to other educators. She earned her B.A. in History and Secondary Education from East Carolina University and was named the 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Central Regional Teacher of the Year. Shannon’s educational philosophy is grounded in her “Keep CRUSHING It” motto, which emphasizes being Creative, Resilient, Uplifting, Supportive, and Hopeful. She strives to build learning environments and design classroom experiences that reflect those values while encouraging students to collaborate, question, create, and think critically. Shannon is passionate not only about helping students engage meaningfully with history, but also about supporting and encouraging fellow educators as they grow in their practice. She lives in Sims, North Carolina, with her husband, Joey, and their daughter, Taylor.
