Madeline Hannigan

Madeline has spent her entire career championing charter schools and educational equity, starting as the Director of Operations at Match Education in Boston. She then broadened her reach by joining Charter School Growth Fund, supporting high-quality charter networks through fundraising and growth planning. She moved back to her home state of North Carolina in 2021, and, inspired by the schools she’d seen across the country, launched Great Schools North Carolina in 2023.

Madeline has an MBA from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a BA from Williams College. She grew up across North and South Carolina, now calling Charlotte home with her husband and three young boys. Madeline enjoys vegetarian cooking, mystery novels and hiking.

Our Mission

For nearly 40 years the Public School Forum of North Carolina has served as an indispensable and nonpartisan champion of better schools. We bring together individuals and institutions from business, education and government to study education issues, develop ideas, seek consensus, and ultimately inform and shape education policy.
