
Michael Vetter serves as the Human Resources Director for Jackson County Public Schools, where he leads efforts to recruit, retain, and support educators and staff. He brings over two decades of experience in education as a teacher, coach, athletic director, principal, and district leader.
Originally from Arcade, New York, Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University, a master’s in administration and leadership in 2009, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from East Carolina University in 2025. His career began in Anson County, NC, at Anson Middle School, where he served as a teacher and coach before becoming athletic director and later principal of Ansonville Elementary School.
He and his wife, Shelly, an elementary school physical education teacher, have three children, Juliana, Owen, and Cassidy. The Vetter family enjoys spending time outdoors and supporting one another’s many sporting activities.
