Kelly Hanna is an Instructional Coach with the NC New Teacher Support Program. The NC New Teacher Support Program is a leader in university-based induction support through the belief in and practice of transformative, intentional coaching to increase student achievement by improving beginning teacher effectiveness and retention.
Kelly began her teaching career in 2010 as an elementary educator. Throughout her career in public and charter school settings, she has served as a classroom teacher, a beginning teacher mentor, and a K-12 beginning teacher coordinator. She was awarded Teacher of the Year for a K-12 Charter School in Asheville, NC and Charter School Teacher of the Year of WNC in 2017. She was selected to represent Western Carolina University and the NC NTSP in the North Carolina Education Policy Fellowship Program.
Kelly earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology and her Birth–Kindergarten and K–5 teaching licenses from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. She earned her Master in K–12 Reading Education from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and holds National Board Certification in Early and Middle Childhood Literacy. She lives in the mountains of Western North Carolina and enjoys gardening in her spare time.
