Jonathan Lancho Villa is a multilingual educator serving Pilot Mountain Elementary and Mountain Park Elementary in Surry County Schools. Originally from Spain, Jonathan is deeply dedicated to empowering multilingual learners by equipping them with the language proficiency, confidence, and academic skills required to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.
Recognized as the 2025 Surry County Schools Teacher of the Year and the 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Piedmont-Triad Regional Teacher of the Year, Jonathan champions innovative, student-centered practices that honor cultural diversity and cultivate inclusive learning environments. Grounded in the firm conviction that language serves as a bridge rather than a barrier, he focuses on building authentic relationships with students and families, uplifting student voices, and connecting learners to enriching global cultures and real-world experiences.
