Erin Carroll is the Outdoor Learning Specialist for Durham Public Schools. In this role, she partners with educators across the district to integrate environmental education and outdoor learning into curriculum through professional development, curriculum design, and the use of outdoor learning spaces.
Erin earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from Dickinson College, a Master of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from North Carolina State University, and a Master of Science in Environmental Education from Antioch University New England, where she also completed certificates in Climate Change Education and Conservation Psychology.
Throughout her career, Erin has worked in both formal and informal education settings, supporting learners of all ages through classroom teaching, environmental education, and professional learning. Her professional interests include environmental literacy, schoolyard learning, climate education, equitable access to outdoor experiences, teacher professional development, and building meaningful partnerships between schools and communities.
Erin lives in Durham, North Carolina, with her husband and young daughter. In her free time, she enjoys reading, visiting local coffee shops, exploring outdoor spaces, and trying new restaurants around the Triangle.
