Emily Rarangol is a special education teacher and department chair in the Wake County Public School System. Before transitioning to special education, Emily taught upper elementary in the general education setting.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Texas State University and a Master of Arts in Special Education Curriculum and Instruction from Texas Lutheran University. Her professional interests include special education policy, educational equity, and ensuring schools uphold policies that protect and support students with disabilities. She is also passionate about understanding education systems around the world and examining how different countries approach teaching, learning, and educational equity. This interest has led her to visit schools in Italy and Kenya, with plans to study Egypt’s education system through school visits in the coming year.
Originally from San Antonio, Texas, Emily has lived in several states as part of a military family. She currently resides in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina, with her husband, son, and two dogs
