
Laura Bailey is the principal of Scotland High School in Laurinburg, NC, where she has led with a focus on student achievement, teacher development, and community partnerships. Under her leadership, the school has celebrated academic growth, expanded career and technical education pathways, and enhanced extracurricular opportunities for students. Laura was named the 2025 Sandhills Region Principal of the Year, a recognition of her dedication to empowering both students and educators.
She earned a B.S. in History from East Carolina University, a Master of School Administration from Western Carolina University, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. With more than two decades in education, Laura’s work is centered on fostering strong relationships, supporting teacher retention, and creating meaningful opportunities for students.
A lifelong advocate for public education, Laura resides in Laurinburg, NC with her husband Richard, who has been a teacher for 34 years, and their son Carson.
