
Dr. Jason R. Miller is the Assistant Director for Research and Extramural Funding for the NC New Teacher Support Program. The NC New Teacher Support Program is a leader in university-based induction support through the belief in and practice of transformative, intentional coaching to increase student achievement by improving beginning teacher effectiveness and retention. Dr. Miller began his career in education as a middle school band director. He was named Teacher of the Year at Eblen Intermediate School in 2014. His leadership roles included three years as an assistant principal and four years as a principal in Buncombe County Schools. He served as an instructional coach with the NC New Teacher Support Program for three years before moving into his current leadership role with the program. Dr. Miller earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Mars Hill College, his Masters in School Administration from Appalachian State University, and his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Western Carolina University. He lives in the mountains of WNC with his family and dogs.
