Dr. Derrick D. Jordan is currently Deputy State Superintendent for the Educator and Student Advancement Division at the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction. With over 25 years of experience in the educational area, Jordan has served as a superintendent, clinical assistant and associate professor, assistant superintendent, curriculum director, high school principal, assistant principal, and teacher. Jordan was named the Piedmont-Triad Regional Superintendent of the Year in 2018 and previously served as the President of the North Carolina Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (NCASCD), the largest chapter in the world at that time. He was recently appointed to a second term as an Accreditation Councilor for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and is a Site Visitor for CAEP and the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Dr. Jordan is also a member of the North Carolina Central University Board of Visitors and the Central Carolina Community College Board of Trustees. In addition, he has served on numerous other boards, committees, and commissions. Jordan earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from North Carolina Central University, a Master of School Administration from East Carolina University, and a Doctor of Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was elected by the faculty as a Jackson Scholar.
