
Dr. Dramaine Freeman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Leadership and Educational Studies at Appalachian State University, where he teaches in the Master’s in School Administration program. With over two decades of experience in education, his career spans substitute teaching, classroom instruction, counseling, administration, and consulting.
Dr. Freeman’s academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Computer Technology from North Carolina A&T State University. He has advanced degrees in education and administration, culminating in a doctorate from Appalachian State University. His research examines how societal perceptions of Black males influence Black male leaders in K–12 education.
Dr. Freeman continues to partner with school districts through consulting that advances leadership among leaders of color. His work reflects a deep commitment to equity, continuous learning, and cultivating environments where all student and leaders—especially marginalized populations—can thrive.
