Dr. Daniel Byrd serves as the Executive Director of Teacher Education, NC Teaching Fellows Campus Director, and Licensure Officer. Prior to joining the RCOE staff, he held several other positions at App State, including academic advisor, adjunct professor, academic content consultant, and assistant director for the Office of Student Success.
Daniel is a first generation college student who earned a B.S. degree in psychology from Auburn University and an M.Ed. and Ph.D. in social studies education from the University of Georgia. His teaching experience is mostly in social studies with high school students and undergraduate teacher education majors.
For the past seven years, Daniel has been the primary caretaker of the App State ducks and likes to say that the ducks are “the best unofficial mascots in college!” Currently he is working on his private pilot’s license.
