Dr. Angelina Knies is a Department Chair of Social Sciences, the Health & Fitness Science Program, and Transfer Initiatives & Programs at Johnston Community College. Angelina also works as a Mathematics Instructor at several institutions within the NC Community College system. Additionally, she is currently serving her second term on the Executive Board as State Secretary for the College Transfer Program Association. Upon entering undergrad, Angelina was selected as a NC Teaching Fellow where she was placed at East Carolina University. Here, she earned her BA in Mathematics, BS in Secondary Mathematics Education and MAEd in Mathematics. She then went on to complete her PhD in Mathematics Education with a concentration on Collegiate Mathematics at NC State University. Angelina was selected and graduated from the Class of 2024 cohort of the NC Community College Leadership Program. With a love for both leadership and education, she continues to show dedication in the classroom and was awarded the 2022 Excellence in Teaching Award (Adjunct) at Catawba Valley Community College. Beyond her professional life, Angelina is a proud dog mom to Bento and Levi. Her passion for all things Disney shines through, whether she’s capturing moments at Galaxy’s Edge or incorporating subtle Disney-inspired touches into her outfits. A lover of hiking, she frequently seeks out mountain escapes and has made it a bucket list goal to visit all U.S. National Parks.
