Christy Propst

Mrs. Christy Propst serves as Principal of Morehead City Elementary School at Camp Glenn. She earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary mathematics with a minor in English from Western Carolina University and a master’s degree in secondary mathematics and public school administration from Appalachian State University. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher and holds certification in Academically or Intellectually Gifted (AIG) education. Mrs. Propst began her career teaching high school mathematics, specializing in AP Calculus and Geometry, before moving into district-level curriculum coaching. After relocating to Carteret County, she taught at Croatan High School and then advanced into administration, serving in leadership roles at Beaufort Elementary, Newport Elementary, Morehead City Middle, and Morehead City Primary. Her leadership was recognized in 2024, when she was named Carteret County Schools 2025 Principal of the Year and 2025 North Carolina Southeast Regional Principal of the Year. Outside of school, Mrs. Propst enjoys family time with her husband, their two children and two Boston Terriers, Ziggy Jack and Bowie Watts. She also enjoys attending concerts, exercising and listening to podcasts.
