Courtney Owen serves as the Student Services and Safe Schools Director for Transylvania County Schools. Born and raised in Transylvania County, Courtney is proud to serve the community she has always called home.
With a professional background in mental health, Courtney began her career working in an acute psychiatric setting, supporting individuals experiencing addiction and mental illness. She later transitioned into school counseling, where she was able to combine her passion for mental health with her commitment to helping children and families. During this time, she also built and operated a successful private clinical mental health practice before moving into her current leadership role with Transylvania County Schools.
Courtney is passionate about ensuring that every child has access to a high-quality public education and the support they need to thrive. She believes strong schools are at the heart of strong communities and is committed to helping create safe, supportive, and successful learning environments for all students.
Courtney and her husband are proud parents of three children. As both a lifelong member of the community and a parent, she understands the importance of investing in the children, families, and schools that make Transylvania County such a special place to call home.
