Katherine Hubbard

Katie Hubbard is a strong proponent of equitable education and addressing structural inequities. She earned her B.A. in Communication Studies with a concentration in Production, Media, and Technology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Currently in her second year as a college adviser with the Appalachian College Advising Corps, Katie works at her alma mater, Wilkes Central High School, where she supports students in navigating the college application process and expanding access to higher education opportunities.

Through her advising role, Katie has developed a deep interest in the intersection of culture, policy, and education. Drawing from her background in cultural studies and anthropology, Katie is especially interested in how funding inequities and cultural contexts shape educational experiences. Her long-term goals include continuing her work in education advocacy with the aim of creating more inclusive and equitable educational systems.
