Sarah Laws

Sarah Laws is an earth and environmental science teacher at Mountain Heritage High School in Yancey County, North Carolina. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Asheville in 2012 and earned her Master’s in Biology at Clemson University in 2017. Sarah is currently in the 2023 – 2025 Rural Teacher Leader Cohort and serves on the Northwest Regional Educators Leadership Committee of North Carolina. Sarah was honored as the 2021 Yancey County Schools Teacher of the Year, has been a North Carolina Museum of Natural Science Educator of Excellence award recipient, and a GoGlobal Educator Ambassador to Australia. She is active at her school as the Interact Club Advisor, Beginning Teacher Mentor, Homecoming Court Advisor, Prom Committee Advisor, and serves on the Yancey County Substance Abuse Task Force.
