What Is RTLN?
Did you know that 80 of North Carolina’s 100 counties are classified as rural, and our rural public schools serve 36% of students across North Carolina? Geography and resources for our rural educators, however, too often serve as barriers to community building and professional learning opportunities. To address these barriers, the Public School Forum of North Carolina has developed the Rural Teacher Leader Network (RTLN). This network will bring together a diverse group of educators who seek to strengthen their practice, foster community with teacher leaders from across other rural districts, and develop their own leadership capacity in order to guide other teachers in their schools. The Rural Teacher Leader Network will bring together up to forty Eastern NC educators with strong potential to create, build upon, and accelerate growth in leadership.
Our inaugural cohort will be announced soon. Stay tuned for more information!
