
Rachel Frye is the 2023 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Southwest Region Teacher of the Year. She has taught English at her alma mater, East Lincoln High School, in Lincoln County since 2003. As an NC Teaching Fellow, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary English Education from N.C. State University. In 2010, she earned her National Boards certification. Currently, she is the ELA Lead for LCS, facilitator for the LCS TLC, a member of the NC Teacher Cadet cadre, and actively supports Beginning Teachers. At ELHS, Rachel leads the nationally-ranked ELHS Cheval Winter Guard. In her “real life,” Rachel spends time with her husband and three children who attend NC public schools. With EF Tours, she has shared her love of travel with more than 100 students to Europe, Asia and Australia. She enjoys traveling to Disney, reading historical fiction, relaxing on Lake Norman, and singing pretty constantly, but especially to the Hamilton soundtrack!
