Part-Time Development Manager

The Public School Forum of NC is seeking a flexible, part-time Development Manager to support the development and fundraising initiatives at the Forum. This position will report to the Director of Strategic Partnerships.  The Forum seeks a passionate and  driven team player with a deep commitment to educational equity & opportunity, and public education.

Organization and Background
Founded in 1986, the Public School Forum of North Carolina has served as an indispensable and nonpartisan champion for better schools.  For more than 35 years, the Forum has worked to advance equitable educational opportunity through research, policy work, programs, advocacy, and continuing education for educators and policymakers.  We are a nonprofit partnership of leaders from business, education, and government that makes significant contributions to K-12 public education in North Carolina.  In addition to research and analysis in the public policy arena, the Forum runs multiple centers, including the Dudley Flood Center for Educational Equity and Opportunity (Flood Center), the NC Center for Afterschool Programs (NC CAP),  and the NC Center for Resilience & Learning. 

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Manage and maintain donor database ensuring that all information remains current and accurate;  lead the gift entry, tax receipt and donor acknowledgement process and produce reports. 
  • Manage grant proposal/application process, reporting and deadlines.
  • Manage prospect tracking by Center/Program areas and keep organized records of funder meeting notes.
  • Lead and manage Annual Fund process and communications.
  • Support and assist with planning and coordination of Forum events such as the annual Jay Robinson Gala and Eggs & Issues. 
  • Collaborate with the Director of Strategic Partnerships on development communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • At least 5 years of working with non-profit organizations, with a proven track record of development and fundraising success.
  • Experience in a range of fundraising including annual gifts, sponsorships, grants and special events.
  • Donor database experience required.  The Forum uses DonorPerfect, but experience with other databases is helpful.
  • Commitment to and enthusiasm for the Forum’s mission.
  • Ability to operate with purpose, urgency, and occurrence in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Excellent organizational skills; self-starter; exceptional attention to details.  
  • Flexibility, drive, and willingness to work as a team player to meet organizational goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on several simultaneous tasks and projects.
  • Strong writing skills and effective communication skills. 
  • Computer, web and social media proficiency. 

Compensation 

This is a part-time position, with flexibility to work 50%-80% full-time schedule based on a full-time salary range of $60,000-$65,000 depending on education and  experience. The Public School Forum offers the following benefits: a generous 401K retirement plan, personal leave policy, term life insurance, and employer-sponsored group health insurance with access to dental, vision, and short and long-term disability plans (if working 75% full time schedule). The Public School Forum of NC is a 35-year-old nonprofit organization and not a state employer. 

Position is located in the Triangle area of North Carolina. Hybrid work arrangement.  Occasional travel required. Background check required for employment.
