I began my career in education by teaching mathematics in Gaston County Public Schools and then Charlotte – Mecklenburg Public Schools. After teaching for 5 years, I transitioned into an extended impact teaching position, and then a multi-classroom leader position where I taught and supported mathematics teachers, and later beginning teachers. I have also worked with the CMS Teaching Residency Program helping beginning teachers master core instructional skills.
I currently work as an instructional coach for the North Carolina New Teacher Support Program at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. In this role, I work to improve student achievement by improving beginning teacher effectiveness and promoting teacher retention. I have a BS in Mathematics from Grand Valley State University and a Master of Arts in Teaching and Curriculum Design from Michigan State University.
