Dr. Holly Fales currently serves as the Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and Educator Preparation within East Carolina University’s College of Education. Her scholarly work centers around teacher preparation, performance assessments, immersive simulation, and digital learning. She represents ECU as a member of the UNC System Digital Learning Initiative Work Group and the UNC System Data and Strategic Research Advisory Committee. Additionally, Holly serves on the steering committee for the NC Teacher Education Assessment Network (NC-TEAN) and is a site reviewer for the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
An Eastern North Carolina native, Holly was previously a National Board Certified teacher in Greene County and an instructional leader for North Carolina Virtual Public School. As a NC Teaching Fellows scholar and first generation college student, she earned her B.S.B.E. in Business and Marketing Education at ECU where she also completed her MAEd in Business Education. Holly completed her Doctorate of Educational Leadership with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction at UNC Wilmington. Holly resides in Greenville, NC with her husband and son. She enjoys spending time with family, traveling, running, swimming, and cheering on the ECU Pirates!
