Dr. Shanan Fitts (she/ her/ hers) is a professor in the Department of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum at Appalachian State University. Fitts has worked with immigrant, refugee, and American Indian communities in and out of public schools since 1994. She joined the App State faculty in 2008. Her research activities include improving elementary classroom teaching for bilingual children and qualitative research to explore the lives and experiences of Latinx populations in southeastern United States.
