
Casey Schulte is the 2023 Burroughs Wellcome Fund Northeast Region Teacher of the Year. She is a High School Biology teacher for Beaufort County Schools. She has also had the privilege of working as a Science Educator in both Wake and Granville Counties.
She earned both a Biology and Science Education Bachelor’s Degree, and a Master’s Degree in Science Education from North Carolina State University. As the Northeast Region Teacher of the Year, Casey serves on various committees on both the Regional and State Level. She is passionate about BT Support, Recruitment and Retention of Diverse Educators, Student Engagement Student Voice and Choice in the Classroom, and STEM Education in the classroom.
Casey has won many awards in her teaching career including Beaufort County Schools Teacher of the Year, Best of the Pamlico Middle School Teacher of the Year, Granville County Schools A+ Award for Leadership, LELA Eaton Creative Teaching Grant.
She has been married since 2014 and is the proud mother of two wonderful boys who are students in NC public schools. She enjoys gardening, baking, and reading all of the books she can get her hands on. She utilizes social media to share teaching ideas and strategies that work in the modern classroom.
