Ashley Bandy is a high school math teacher at a public high school in Catawba County, North Carolina. She graduated from Appalachian State University and began her teaching career in 2015, then returned to her home high school to teach in 2018. She takes pride in returning to the community that raised her, and being involved in the activities that so heavily influenced her life choices.
As a teacher, Ashley focuses on empowering students to become involved, prepared, and well-rounded while rediscovering their passion (or tolerance) for math! Ashley was selected as the Teacher of the Year and District Teacher of the Year in 2021. She was then selected as the Burroughs Wellcome Fund Northwest Region Teacher of the Year in 2022. While she challenges her students to grow their appreciation for mathematics, she is enjoying spending time growing her passion for teacher leadership.
